Carbony™ Celtic Winds Winter Newsletter 2017

Greetings!

We hope everyone in the United States had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  We have had a great year, and highlights include premier showings at the Australian National Folk Festival in Canberra and the Ortigueira Celtic Festival in Spain along with trade shows in Paris France, and Cremona Italy.  Also, more and more Carbony™ instruments are being heard on recordings than ever before. And even with our busy schedule, we managed to fit in a couple new events including the Utah Scottish Festival & Highland Games in Salt Lake City and the Scottish Fest in Costa Mesa, California.

We are looking forward to next year and we are pleased to announce that we have been accepted into the Knysna Celtic Festival in South Africa. This will be our first trip to the continent, and we are looking forward to this exciting adventure.
Refinements of current designs have been the emphasis of our work this past year.  Just about every product has been improved in its design and stability.  This winter, we have chosen a drone design for our Uilleann pipes, so look for a half set available sometime in the spring.  We have also increased the wall thickness of our Irish Flute and it now matches the 1859 Pratten on which it is based, giving the instrument more depth and power.
For holiday shoppers - we are offering some familiar specials this year:
Carbony Celtic Winds High Whistle in a presentation gift box, custom made by Quiltboxes. This is with your choice of whistle in the key of C or higher, please specify which whistle in the comment section upon check out.  The box is approximately 14” x 3.5” x 3” tall, made of bloodwood and fumed oak. This beautiful box is detailed with a brass latch and corner protectors and velveteen lining.

This a $369 value now available only through December 25th as a holiday combo packaged for $299.

Carbony™ Celtic Winds Winter Newsletter 2016

Greetings!

We hope everyone in the United States had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  We have had a great year, and highlights include a return to the Rudolstadt folk festival in Germany - one of the premier folk music festivals in the world. Also, more and more Carbony™ instruments are being heard on recordings than ever before! Artists with new albums in 2016 include Sean Gavin, Josh Dukes, Daphyd Crow of Omnia, Craig Downie of Enter the Haggis and Solana of the Gothard Sisters. And even with our busy schedule we managed to fit in a couple new events including the Aztec Highland Games in New Mexico.

We are looking forward to next year and we are pleased to announce that we have been accepted into the Australian National Folk Festival in Canberra over the Easter weekend. This will be our first trip down under, and we are looking forward to this exciting adventure.

Refinements of current designs have been the emphasis of our work this past year.  Just about every product has been improved in its design and stability.  This winter, we are looking to add drones to our Uilleann pipes, so look for a half set available sometime in the spring.

Our first patent, Fipple (mouthpiece) for a wind musical instrument and method of making a fipple for a wind musical instrument, was approved by the US Patent office. This has been a six year process and a real breakthrough.

Additionally, a recent technological breakthrough has allowed us to successfully prototype our Irish flute in D with finger spacing to match a silver flute.  If you are looking for an Irish flute that is easy to play with smaller hands, and are interested in trying one of the newest models, please send us an email inquiring about our extended chimney model flute.

For holiday shoppers - we are offering two different specials this year:

Carbony Celtic Winds High Whistle in a presentation gift box, custom made by Quiltboxes. This is with your choice of whistle in the key of C or higher, please specify which whistle in the comment section upon check out.  The box is approximately 14” x 3.5” x 3” tall, made of bloodwood and fumed oak. This beautiful box is detailed with a brass latch and corner protectors and velveteen lining.

This a $369 value now available only through December 25th as a holiday combo packaged for $299.

Winter newsletter 2015

Greetings!

We hope everyone in the United States had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  We have had a great year and highlights include a couple new festivals, most notably our participation in a folk festival in Rudolstadt, Germany.  We also had Carlos Nunez visit our booth in North Texas and play all our instruments.  It’s been a busy year and it wouldn’t have been possible without our employee, Ken Staples, keeping the lathes and saws running while I’m moving product at all the music festivals.

Looking forward to next year we are planning a return to Musikmesse in Frankfurt, Germany.  We still have a few open dates so if you know a festival that would enjoy having Carbony Celtic Winds as a vendor please let us know.

We have an update on our product developments. We now offer custom bellows by Hope Pipes for two new products.  We have bellows available on our Scottish Smallpipes and a carbon fiber practice set of Uilleann pipes.

Carbony Smallpipes now ship with custom drone reeds designed for our geometries by Pipedreams of Scotland.

We have also retooled the bore of our full body Irish flute in D and modeled after an 1859 Pratten. It is available as a short foot model with a more refined tuning slide design.

Also introducing a session version of our high D whistle with a larger bore for when you need extra volume, and redesigned our quiet whistle with a smaller bore.  Our standard D remains the same.

We also have available in limited supplies wooden gift boxes for our high whistles, custom made by Quiltboxes. The box is approx. 14” x 3 ½” x 3” tall made of bloodwood and fumed oak.

Winter Newsletter 2014

Greetings!

We hope everyone in the United States had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  We are gearing up for the holiday season, and wanted to make a special introduction!    We would like to introduce  Carbony’s first employee, Jon Warner.  Jon has made the long trek to Oregon from his native Connecticut, and he is an accomplished musician.  He comes with instrument making experience as a former employee of Sweetheart flutes.  One of Jon’s projects will be the development of a carbon fiber Uillean pipe chanter so look for this product introduction in the spring.  Hopefully, Jon will be going on the road for Carbony, so if you see him in the booth at a show, make sure you stop by and say hello.

Carbony is also introducing a few new products for 2015! We have a new line of double whistles, available in the keys of D, C, and Bb.  These whistles have two bodies; one body plays as a typical 6 hole whistle and the other body is used as a drone. The drone will also jump octaves with breath intensity and can be set up on the fundamental to imply a major key or on the second to imply a minor tonality.  We have had these available at festivals over the last month and they are our fastest moving product to date. They make the perfect gift for the whistle player who has everything.

We have also introduced our widely anticipated medium backpressure super boom triple slide didgeridoo with two locking collets and a true continuous exponential bell. This product also features a triple spiral molded bore head joint with stainless steel aperture.

We have added to our flute line an ergonomic hole pattern for our full body flutes in D and C, and a full body low Bb flute- our first flute with a detachable foot joint.

Lastly,  we will be introducing a line of Carbony™ instrument boxes, leather holsters and whistle rolls this month.

To ease some of your holiday expenses, we are offering free standard shipping!  Just type [FSHP] as a promotion code as you check out at www.Carbony.com, or just call 1 541 829 3016 and we can take your order over the phone.

Thanks for another successful year and we wish you a  great holiday season full of music and good cheer!
